Legal Requirements for Laser (and other Optical Radiation) Safety Training
The Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010 state that where a risk from optical radiation exists, the employer must provide sufficient training. This includes:
- the measures taken to minimise risk
- exposure limit values
- an explanation of the findings of the risk assessment
- detecting and reporting adverse health effects
- health surveillance
- safe working practices
- proper use of personal protective equipment.
